In the course of their work, a bee will visit as many as 1,500 blossoms. A single granule of bee pollen contains from five hundred thousand to five million live pollen spores. Pollen is the male seed of flowers. It is required to fertilize the plant. The tiny particles consist of 50/1000ths of a millimeter corpuscles, which are formed at the free end of the stamen. The pollen trap allows sufficient pollen to pass through the grids into the colony for the care and feeding of the hive population.
